Melinda: Well, I hope that you can find what you are looking for.

Oscar. Thanks Melinda. The most important thing is to find a girl whose father is a lawyer.

Melinda: Why must your wife's father be a lawyer?

Oscar: So that if we need to, we can get a discount on our divorce!

Melinda: If your wife's father is a lawyer, he will convince the judge to give all your money to your ex-wife.

Oscar: Oh. I hadn't thought of that.

Melinda: It's lucky that your English is better than your legal skills!

He and his band moved to Los Angeles with high hopes of making it big. He was married at age 20 to a makeup artist. His career as a musician failed to skyrocket and he resorted to selling pens over the phone to make ends meet. A divorce soon followed.

But during those years Johnny got a lucky break, Lori had introduced him to actor Nicolas Cage. Although at first they did not like each other, they became good friends. Nicolas convinced him to try acting and he signed on with Cage's agent.

After a couple of small movies and no more offers, Johnny was convinced by his agent to take a role on the TV show "21 Jump Street". Since money and offers weren't rolling in, and he felt the show would last only a short time, he accepted. The show became popular with teens and the Fox TV executives began to push Johnny as a teen idol.

Since then he has changed his career to more serious acting and has been nominated for three Gloden Globe Awards for his work in "Edward Scissorhands", "Benny and Joon" and "Ed Wood".

Johnny has remained very interested in music and purchased a club, The Viper Room, in Los Angeles as a haven for playing his music. He has numerous friends in the music business and has a band called "P" which occasionally plays at the Viper Room. "P" released their first album in November, 1995.

On May 27, 1999 at 8:25pm, Johnny became a father for the first time. Vanessa Paradis gave birth to their daughter, Lily-Rose Melody Depp, in a hospital near Paris with Johnny by her side.

Wedding Customs

Flowers - In ancient times almost anything was thought to bring bad luck and for this reason, brides" protected" themselves by carrying an assortment of herbs to ward off evil. On the day of the wedding, an ancient bride would
cover her dress and veil with plants to the point where she must have resembled a walking salad. Over the centuries flowers have replaced herbs as the preferred charm for dispelling evil. The custom has slowly evolved into the recognized bouquets that are a staple at today's weddings.

Honeymoon - We all know what it is, but have you ever wondered where the word honeymoon came from? In ancient times, men weren't much into romance and showing their true feelings. In fact, the most practical way to gain a bride was simply by carrying one off.

Fortified with a brew made of "honey", a groom was entitled to keep his bride if he managed to prevent her escaping for an entire "moon" or lunar cycle. By forcing her to drink the honey ale, it was hoped that she could remain docile during her captivity. Over time the combination of the two components joined to become honeymoon.

Clothing - In ancient Rome, the color white was thought to signify joy. In later medieval times, the color was thought to represent purity. As social standards have changed, it has reverted back to it's original meaning, making it acceptable for even those brides that have previously wed to wear this traditional color.

In the "dark ages", curses and malicious thoughts were taken very seriously. For this reason, family and friends of the bridal couple would dress in a similar manner as the bride and groom in an effort to confuse any evil spirits that intended harm to the newly married couple. To this day, the
coordinated attire of the ushers and bridesmaids continue the tradition.

The ancient French term "trousseau" literally translates to a clothing bundle. As part of her dowry, the bride would bring her personal belongings or trousseau to the home of her new husband. Over the years this custom has evolved to denote the special clothing the bride will wear after doffing her gown, also included today are the special outfit the bride will wear, take with her on her honeymoon.

The Garter - The symbolism of the garter can trace its origin to the convergence of two totally unrelated traditions. In ancient Jewish society, fidelity was symbolized by a blue ribbon that the bride would wear on her
wedding day. Later in Britain, the "bawdy" custom of flinging the stocking" became popular. After allowing the newlyweds to enter the bridal chamber, the guests would gain entry and snatch one of the bride's stockings.

The revelers would then begin throwing the stocking at the bride from the foot of the bed. It was thought that whomever was closest to hitting the bride's nose would be the next to marry. Over the centuries, to prevent the guests from physically removing her stocking brides started arming
themselves with an extra one that the groom could throw. Thankfully the custom has changed so that now the ritual is performed at the reception instead of the bedroom!

Dialogue

Prince 1999

I was dreamin' when I wrote this
Forgive me if it goes astray
But when I woke up this mornin'
Coulda sworn it was judgment day
The sky was all purple,
There were people runnin' everywhere
Tryin' to run from the destruction,
You know I didn't even care

'Cuz they say two thousand zero zero party over,
Oops out of time
So tonight I'm gonna party like it's 1999

I was dreamin' when I wrote this
So sue me if I go too fast
But life is just a party, and parties weren't meant to last
War is all around us, my mind says prepare to fight
So if I gotta die I'm gonna listen to my body tonight

Yeah, they say two thousand zero zero party over,
oops out of time
So tonight I'm gonna party like it's 1999
Yeah

Lemme tell ya somethin'
If U didn't come to party,
Don't bother knockin' on my door
I got a lion in my pocket,
And baby he's ready to roar
Yeah, everybody's got a bomb,
We could all die any day
But before I'll let that happen,
I'll dance my life away

Oh, they say two thousand zero zero party over,
Oops out of time
We're runnin' outta time (Tonight I'm gonna)
So tonight we gonna (party like it's 1999)
We gonna, oww

Alright, it's 1999
You say it, 1999
1999
1999 don't stop, don't stop, say it 1 more time
Two thousand zero zero party over,
Oops out of time
Yeah, yeah (Tonight I'm gonna)
So tonight we gonna (party like it's 1999)
